Tensar SS30 is a stiff, integrally formed biaxial geogrid used to stabilise granular layers over weak or variable subgrades. Punched and drawn from polypropylene sheet, it carries load in both directions through integral junctions rather than woven or welded joints.

Where it is used

  • Haul roads and site access over soft subgrade
  • Working platforms for piling and crane operations
  • Road and hardstanding subbase, reducing aggregate thickness
  • Yard and laydown areas subject to repeated trafficking

How it works

Aggregate partially penetrates the 39 mm apertures and is confined by the surrounding ribs. This restrains lateral spread under wheel loading, which stiffens the layer, distributes load over a wider area of subgrade and slows rut development. The practical result is a thinner granular layer for the same performance, or a longer service life for the same thickness.

Specification

  • Polymer: polypropylene, minimum 2% carbon black
  • Structure: biaxial, integral junctions
  • Nominal aperture: 39 mm × 39 mm
  • Nominal tensile strength: 30 kN/m
  • Roll: 3.8 m or 4.0 m wide × 50 m long
  • Unit weight: 0.33 kg/m²

Installation

Roll out directly onto a prepared subgrade, joints overlapped 300–600 mm depending on subgrade strength. Place and compact fill by end-tipping and spreading over the grid — plant should not track directly on the geogrid.

Supplied and installed nationwide by our own certified crews. Full technical data sheets and project-specific design support available on request.
